Insect Protein Dog Treats

Globe Buddy's Luxx Easy and Luxx Energy Use BSFL as a Digestible Protein

Luxx Easy and Luxx Energy are two new dog treats from premium dog food and treat company Globe Buddy, both crafted to meet the demand for functional pet nutrition and more sustainable protein sources. Globe Buddy makes the most of insect protein derived from black soldier fly larvae (BSFL,) a highly digestible protein that's ideal for dogs with food sensitivities and boasts a lower environmental impact compared to traditional livestock-based proteins. “The pet food category is undergoing a fundamental shift,” said Bjarne Gravesen Jensen, co-founder of Globe Buddy. “Traditional protein sources will increasingly be challenged, and insect protein offers a scalable way to meet both performance and sustainability demands."

Calming Luxx Easy is a treat prepared with L-tryptophan, chamomile and valerian root, while Luxx Energy supports active dogs with L-carnitine, electrolytes and minerals.

Insect Protein Adoption
Growing acceptance of BSFL as a palatable, highly digestible protein source highlights potential for scalable protein platforms that challenge traditional meat-centric formulations.
Functional Pet Nutrition
Treats and foods fortified with targeted actives like L‑tryptophan, L‑carnitine and botanicals signal an expansion of performance- and wellness-focused product segments.
Sustainable Ingredient Sourcing
Heightened demand for lower-impact inputs points toward ingredient value chains that prioritize circularity and reduced emissions over commodity animal proteins.

Who This Affects Most

Pet Food Manufacturing
Manufacturers experimenting with insect-based and functional compositions could redefine production standards and ingredient specifications across premium and mass markets.
Animal Health Supplements
Formulators incorporating amino acids, botanicals and electrolyte systems adjacent to novel proteins indicate opportunities to blend nutrition and therapeutic support in supplement portfolios.
Feed Ingredient Supply Chain
Supply chains capable of scaling insect biomass and certifying sustainability credentials may disrupt commodity sourcing models for pet and livestock feed ingredients.
