Years.com Created a Trio of Carob-Based Easter Eggs for Dogs

— March 19, 2026 — Lifestyle
Typical chocolate isn't safe for dogs, but Years.com crafted limited-edition, cocoa-free Easter eggs for dogs using carob, a naturally dog-safe ingredient that resembles chocolate, plus real fruit and fiber to support digestive health.

The Egg-straordinary Trio was created in partnership with Barry Colenso, a master chocolatier at Thorntons, and includes: Berry Shortbread with freeze-dried raspberries, Coconut Berry with coconut flakes and freeze-dried strawberry, and Nutty 'Nana with crushed peanuts and dried banana slices. “This wasn’t about making a novelty dog treat. It was about applying real chocolatier thinking—from the texture, aroma, snap, mouthfeel and indulgence, then reengineering it, hand-crafting to be completely safe, visually stunning and healthy for digestion," said Colenso.

These elevated treats for dogs are ready to gift pets to include valued members of the household in seasonal festivities.

Trend Themes

  1. Pet Food Premiumization — An emerging preference for chef-crafted, ingredient-forward pet foods creates room for premium product lines that mirror human gourmet standards while meeting animal dietary needs.
  2. Humanized Pet Celebrations — Seasonal and holiday gifting practices increasingly extend to pets, opening possibilities for occasion-specific products that blend aesthetics with pet-safe formulation.
  3. Chocolate Alternatives for Pets — Demand for cocoa-free, sensory-similar substitutes like carob points to opportunities for plant-based confectionery tailored to animal health profiles.

Industry Implications

  1. Pet Food and Treat Manufacturing — Manufacturers positioned to combine culinary craftsmanship with veterinary-grade ingredients can redefine treat categories toward indulgent yet functional offerings.
  2. Confectionery and Chocolatier Services — Artisanal chocolate houses expanding techniques to non-toxic bases and novel textures may create new product lines serving both humans and companion animals.
  3. Gift Retail and Seasonal Merchandising — Retailers curating pet-inclusive seasonal assortments stand to capitalize on cross-category packaging and experiential gifting trends that elevate pet-owner rituals.
