Alton Towers Resort's 'Galactica' is a Virtual Reality Roller Coaster

'Galactica' from Alton Towers Resort is a new virtual reality roller coaster that will make its passengers feel as though they've been launched into outer space. Using a VR headset, passengers are made to feel as though they are looking through a space portal down at the Earth. This immersive experience is combined with the motion of a flying coaster to provide a rush of adrenaline like never before.

Before the official opening of the virtual reality roller coaster, Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield tested out the ride and described the experience as "incredible," "breathtaking" and the closest he's come to a virtual trip into space.

The use of virtual reality is bound to become more widespread for entertainment, particularly among theme and amusement park rides of the future.
