Cycling shops are rarely hubs for architectural innovation, but United Cycling in Copenhagen redefines what a bicycle store should look like. Designed by Johannes Torpe Studio, this unique retail space invites customers into a laboratory-style space. Complete with illuminated white walls and mechanical hoists, the United Cycling store offers an incredibly futuristic showroom that encourages customers to "inspect, touch and admire the bicycles for their technical superiority."
The space also plays host to a workshop, bike-fitting area, as well as a number of meeting rooms and canteen for staff. All of the rooms maintain the lab-like aesthetics with simple concrete flooring and illuminated white walls. The concept behind the space was to showcase the technological innovation behind the bicycles shown in the shop while creating a tactile space for customers to observe and purchase their next ride.
