Home-Transformed Art Museums

Studio Kukkapuro is Being Transformed from Home to Museum

Studio Kukkapuro was designed by the late designers Yrjö and Irmeli Kukkapuro in the 60s to function as a home and their work studio in Finland. Now, it is being transformed into a museum -- the project is being led by their daughter and granddaughter. The building is topped by a swooping roof and the space was the couple's workplace up until their passing in 2022 and 2025.

Ida Kukkapuro spoke on the renovation, "The museum will showcase a lifetime of work from a furniture designer and a graphic artist and their way of living at the studio – they always said they brought home to work rather than work to home. The studio will welcome all guests. Designer and architect groups, locals, tourists, students, and the space will also work as a venue for education and small-scale workshops."
