Color-Blocked Contemporary Museums

Studio Besau-Marguerre Designs the Foyer of the MK&G Museum

German design studio Studio Besau-Marguerre completes the design of the MK&G design museum's entrance with bright colors in a blocked design. Studio Besau-Marguerre speaks about the project to Dezeen stating "We wanted to create a place that allows visitors to relax and draws them into a world of art and design with a new color scheme and improved acoustics. We wanted it to be a place of tranquillity and warmth, in contrast to the hustle and bustle outside the museum."

MK&G stands for Museum für Kunst und Gewerb and it was originally designed during the 19th century which had a white foyer with a clockroom and ticket office tucked away. The studio continues, "Due to the architectural details, the huge emptiness and the reverberant acoustics, the space looked like a large railway station hall and had no quality of stay."
