Studio &Space has redesigned a 1930s home in Amsterdam Zuid into a refined family residence with custom furnishings and hotel-level detailing. Originally untouched for decades, the 275-square-meter house now features a gym, sauna, playroom, and expanded attic. Studio founder Maike Borst preserved key architectural elements like stained glass, bay windows, and the home’s spiral staircase, which now extends to the top floor. “I knew from the start that I wanted to honour and highlight the original details,” she shared.
The interiors were shaped by the owners’ travel memories and love of French boutique stays. Aged brass, warm woods, and expressive stone bring layered texture, while the kitchen is built with Eginstill, features a lacquered pedestal island and patterned quartzite. Natural woven walls, a custom walk-in closet, and onyx finishes elevate the principal suite. Soft textures and a sculpted bunk bed enrich the children’s room, balancing elegance with livability throughout the home.
