Gunter and Co Redesign a London Residence with a Light Filled Interior

— November 20, 2025 — Art & Design
Gunter and Co redesign a London residence with a light-filled interior by retaining the Edwardian facade and rebuilding the inside around a three-storey void that reframes circulation and daylight. The entrance opens to a sweeping vertical space that connects each floor and sets the tone for an interior defined by minimal transitions and calm surfaces.

The ground level uses large sections of White Emperador marble that are polished in place to achieve a continuous appearance across the main living areas. Polished plaster replaces traditional mouldings, and metal trims are kept flush to give the surfaces a contemporary clarity. These decisions shift the historic structure toward a more modern architectural language without removing its sense of origin.

The project incorporates oak-stained furniture made specifically for the home and cast bronze hardware that introduces subtle texture. A suspended glass installation created with the homeowner extends across multiple levels and reflects natural light throughout the stair void. The blend of custom craft and refined material choice ties the spaces together and supports a cohesive narrative across the residence.
