Skulls have been worn in societies for generations. Ethnic tribes wear them for a variety of purposes while in mainstream society people wear them for fashion. For a long time skeletal fashion was dawned by edgy outsider crowds but that has changed over the past few years.

Some attribute the shift to Damien Hirst and his £50m skull, but it is hard to say.
