September 2017 transportation trends reveal vehicles that are increasingly adapted to enhance pedestrian safety, as well as environmentally friendly designs being infused into more areas related to transport.
An example of the former includes Google's self-driving car Waymo, which has a feature that can detect if the car is about to hit a pedestrian, and can soften its exterior in order to prevent fatalities. Another example is the Volkswagen Interceptor, which is an enhanced police vehicle that offers 360 degree visibility – making it well-suited to cruise around cities.
Environmentally friendly design is now being infused into transportation options like Peace Boat's Ecoship, which is a cruise ship with reduced carbon emissions, and the Mö, which is a solar-powered cross between a bike and a vehicle.
