Amtrak Will Take Passengers to Illinois for a Solar Eclipse Viewing

In a newly announced promotion, Amtrak revealed that it will be carrying select passengers to the best solar eclipse viewing spot in Illinois. The eclipse train tickets, which sold all 409 available spots in less than a day, will take passengers from Chicago to Carbondale, Illinois.

Carbondale is on the eclipse's path of totality, and is considered to be one of the best places in the United States to view the rare occurrence, which hasn't been witnessed since 1979. Prior to the eclipse, passengers are invited to take part in a day of activities, which correspond with the Carbondale Eclipse celebration. Multiple vendors will be taking part in the Amtrak-sponsored event, and invite ticket holders to celebrate in style.

In order to ensure that passengers stay safe, Amtrack will provide passengers with protective eclipse-viewing glasses.
