From Amourous Images to Desexualizing Portraits

 - Jul 15, 2016
Nude photographs don't always have to mean something illicit. The naked body can also be artistic, humorous and powerful. The collection of images shows how versatile nude photography can be.

One American artist, Jade Beall, used her photography to change the negative dialogue around elderly bodies. She utilized beloved couples over the age of 60 in tasteful portraits to communicate the beauty and sensuality of aging bodies. Alternatively, there's German-based artist Lovis Ostenrik, whose vision was to desexualize the undressed body. His images captured a contorted nude model in a manner that resembled abstract sculptures.

Its incredibly interesting to see how each photographer and artist uses nude photographs to send across a message, to influence, to evoke emotions and to get their audience to think in abstract ways.
