Jil Sander, whose real name is actually Heidemarie Jiline Sander, is a 68 year-old, German-born fashion designer known for her minimalist designs. When Sander started to become a recognized name in the fashion industry in the 1980s, her trademark look was a precisely cut pantsuit, a chic blouse and a form-fitting coat that was made of luxurious fabrics in plain gray, beige, blue, black or white.

The designer and her work has been called Queen of Less, Cashmere-Queen, Master of Minimalism, Cool Blonde, Gentle-Jil or Fashion Reductionist.

Today, the Jil Sander fashion house has continued to be a widely respected name, even though it has been without Sander's involvement since 2004. In 2009, after years of absence from the fashion industry, Jil Sander announced the creation of her own fashion consultancy and that she was now employed by Uniqlo of Japan.
