From Ramen Sandwiches to Poutine Pizzas
Globalization is bringing people of the East and West closer, which is also bringing forward evermore creative fusion foods. Lately we've seen a movement in instant noodle-infused western dishes like grilled cheese sandwiches, burgers and even cupcakes.
Aside from the ramen craze, other Asian dishes are being manipulated using North American ingredients. Eggrolls have been made with cookie dough, sushi rolls with fruit and wontons with baked pumpkin pie mix. This mash-up of food culture proves that people are now evermore open to trying flavors and cooking techniques of different cultures.
Along with Asia, we are also seeing a lot of Mexican-North-American fusions. From chocolate nachos to Mexican-inspired flat bread recipes, Mexican food is being re-imagined to cater more specifically to North American taste buds.
