Before-and-after photos are often used in advertising as a way to provide consumers with a comparison of what they can expect when they use that specific product. Other times, they're used by activist groups to help highlight the dangers of drugs and alcohol as well as dramatic weight gain or lost. In some other more lighthearted pictorials, the before-and-after technique is used as a homage to yesteryear with adults reenacting pictures from when they were kids or of them imitating their favorite family members to pay respect to times long since passed.
