Donna Karan designs transcend fads and current styles and have managed to maintain a sense of edginess, sophistication and modernity throughout the constantly evolving and fickle fashion industry.
The designer started her career as an assistant designer at Anne Klein in the late 1960s; she was eventually promoted to associate designer in 1971. After Anne Klein’s death, Karan became one of the head designers at the fashion house. She left in 1984 to start her own line, which she showcased for the first time in 1985.
