22 Afghan Social Innovations

Cooperatives, Social Enterprises and Art Supporting Afghanistan:

Skincare cooperatives, accessories that support childhood education, and fair trade soccer balls that employ Afghan women are just a few of the social innovations featured in this series. There are also art projects geared at awareness as well as keynote speeches from people addressing major issues faced by the war-torn country.

For the most part, these social enterprises are geared at supporting and empowering women in Afghanistan, particularly those who are struggling to find economic independence. Also included in this collection of Afghan social innovations are entrepreneurs like Connie Duckworth, who employs female weavers in Afghanistan, Barb Stegman who founded The 7 Virtues oils, Gayle Lemmon who speaks about Afghani female entrepreneurs, and David Mikkelsen whose low-cost mobile tools reconnect refugees.
