Spaced Agency has created the Small Business Innovation Hub for Welcome to Chinatown, transforming a former plumbing-fixture storefront on Bowery into a multifunctional venue. The design allows the space to shift effortlessly between an event hall, gallery, co-working area, and marketplace. Key features include reconfigurable cherry-wood cabinets, a silver curtain mounted on a radial track, and mobile carts inspired by dim sum service, all stored within the walls when not in use. These elements make it possible to quickly adapt the layout for lectures, movie screenings, or pop-up night markets.
A calming blue palette ties into the nonprofit’s visual identity, while vibrant red stools sourced locally add warmth and flexibility. The hub is more than a physical space—it is a resource center for mentorship, community programs, and cultural events, designed to nurture Chinatown’s economic resilience while celebrating its heritage and creative spirit.
