David Mikkelsen, founder of Refugees United, talks about reuniting lost loved ones. Mikkelsen tells the story of an effort to help an Afghan boy reconnect with family he thought he had lost. The compelling experience led David to create a social platform that uses low-cost mobile tools in order to reconnect refugees.
Mikkelsen talks about our access to various technologies that allows us to connect with our loved ones no matter where they are in the world. Though we are used to finding people via web or through mobile networks, others around the world do not share the same privilege. His organization has 50,000 members so far with the hope of resolving this heartbreaking problem that is faced by so many individuals around the world.
The torture of uncertainty and not knowing should not be experienced by anyone in present society and David Mikkelsen's organization hopes to keep connecting refugees to their loved ones.
