On a warm day in September 2013 I became a Trend Hunter. As an Editorial and Social Media intern I accomplished what I never thought I could: writing over 700 articles in four months. In addition to the experience I gained in that position, I also took on the Video Production Assistant project and got to work with the creative team to film, edit, write and produce visual content for Trend Hunter's YouTube channel. My dreams came true when I interviewed several innovators, from fashion designer REESE and singer Fefe Dobson, to the Co-Owner of Free the Children and CEO of Danier Leather. I also got to attend amazing events like Red Bull's Thre3style World DJ Competition!
I have a passion for writing, film, music and food as well as lifestyle topics -- specifically curly hair care, fitness and relationships. My passion is to share my stories, learn from the stories of others and work together to make the world a better place to live.
What is unique that's not in your bio?
I used to make YouTube "vlogs" during my undergrad. I talked about things like disappointing pizza, Warped Tour, and bizarre life experiences.
What's your favorite accomplishment?
Surviving an elbow dislocation with copious amounts of physiotherapy and lots of support from friends :D
How do you define cool?
If I can talk about it with someone for hours, it's definitely cool.
What is your secret to uncovering trends?
Refreshing sources constantly and finding new ones weekly. It gets tough trying to filter through the same websites to find something new, so switching it up and exploring a variety of categories really helps.
What do you enjoy most about Trend Hunter?
I love the team, the positive work environment and the friendly competition amongst colleagues. Everyone here is challenged to grow and achieve goals beyond their own expectations. At Trend Hunter, everyone looks out for each other, supports each other and spurs one another on towards achieving their full potential.
What are your tips for writing a juicy post?
Find something you're passionate about and go to town, remembering to use expressive and creative language. Using photographs helps you to go into detail about all the little things you love about the product, service or idea.
How do you reset to be creative?
Trying new things, deep conversations with friends, down time with good company, or moshing at a metal show!
What inspires or excites you?
The future, travelling, landscape and city photography, food blogs, cookies n' cream ice cream, great people, live music, new books, movie trailers, deep talks, God's love.
