With the 2014 Fifa World Cup about to kick off in Brazil, Reuters went behind the scenes to photograph the factory where the World Cup soccer balls are made.
Sara Farid took pictures inside the Pakistani factory located in Sialkot, Punjab province. These shots show employees working at production areas using hot air to adhere outer panels to the official match balls and performing inspections of finished balls.
The factory owner Khawaja Akhtar has been dreaming of manufacturing the World Cup soccer balls since 2006 when Germany hosted football's biggest tournament. He got his chance in 2014, with only 33 days to get the job done. The biggest soccer spectacle on Earth will begin next week.
