The Starlight Children's Foundation, SOTI, and Lenovo have recently teamed up to create VR hospital experiences for patients who may not be able to leave immediate care. Utilizing the Mirage Solo, Google's standalone Daydream VR device, the VR hospital experience hopes to distract children during hospitalization as well as showing them locations all around the world. Delivered across Starlight's 800+ pediatric partners, this initiative will hopefully drastically improve the quality of life for many young hospital patients.
In addition to its potential therapeutic solutions, the implementation of VR in hospitals could ensure children do not fall behind on school or interactions. Various educational offerings have already been developed for VR and the ability to interact through social media can ensure children do not become isolated while in the hospital.
