These taco macarons by 'Crème Macarons' remix the classic French dessert to look like tiny tacos.
The creator of the taco macaron is the classically trained pastry chef Kim Haines. Haines is based in Chicago and her business, Crème Macarons, creates playful remixes of the macaron for special orders and events. Haines created the taco macaron specially for the 'Food Network,' an organization she has worked closely with ever since she interned for them in the Food Network Kitchen.
The Taco Macaron has a base of the classic French macaron with a sweet meringue shell and what looks like shaved coconut dyed to look like cheese and lettuce. A filling made to look like taco beef keeps the individual components of the taco macaron together and adds a creamy texture to this unique mashup.
