The Spontaneous Tree of Heaven installation is currently on display for all to see in London. Commissioned by Up Projects and produced by Jo Joelson and Bruce Gilchrist, the design offers a modern and upscale take on classic birdhouses.
Scaling along two Ailanthus Altissima trees are these homes for fowl. A series of small pale boxes are placed side by side, deliberately reflecting the architecture of Georgian town homes, social housing in the 1960s and London's East End.
For those interested, Spontaneous Tree of Heaven can now be viewed at Cremorne Gardens and Duncan Terrace Gardens. No matter which site one visits, what will remain consistent is the unusual way in which birds have provided with attention.
