Local design firm Ao-ft designs the Tree Courtyard House, which is a home defined by its tall plane tree right in the center of the space. It is the focal point of the home and it also has a cross-laminated timber structure and is located in East London's Walthamstow Village just behind the main shopping street.
The house has two bedrooms and it is meant to blend into its surroundings with walls made with dark brown brick walls. The director of the studio, Liz Tatarintseva shares "We took advantage of the seasonal changes in the tree's foliage and location with summer months providing dappled shading to the south-facing facade while allowing more light during the winter months when the leaves have fallen."
