A health-focused self-sufficient ecosystem that closely mimics the elements of nature will be inserted in the Aldin Biodomes project — a complex planned for the Elliðaárdalur valley in Iceland. In addition to the arched structures, the project will also realize a number of public spaces.
This development of self-sufficient ecosystems and community-focused environments is headed by WilkinsonEyre, who will work in close proximity with Icelandic studio Basalt. The idea behind the project is to promote wellbeing for the public during the dark winter months in the country.
The two glass biodomes will be filled with "exotic plants from other regions." In addition, their infrastructure will also be able to support a restaurant, a shop, an information area, a market, as well as a Farm Lab.
