The Heartland Whole Health Institute headquarters redefines wellness through the built environment by situating a healing-focused campus in Bentonville, Arkansas. Designed by Marlon Blackwell, the project draws inspiration from Ozark forests and limestone landscapes, integrating weathered brass fins, layered stone walls, and glass expanses into a sculptural form.
The composition conveys permanence while remaining rooted in nature, framing light and shadow to guide movement through spaces dedicated to care, education, and community. Interiors feature hickory and pecan ceilings, open dogtrot passageways, and natural textures that create both warmth and clarity, offering patients and visitors a sense of restorative calm.
Public gathering zones, gallery spaces, and a café activate the ground level, while upper floors host offices, research areas, and meditation rooms designed for privacy and reflection. Vertical fins filter sunlight to create a dappled forest-like effect that enhances the spatial experience.
