Kirin's 'Grapefruit Dog' Offers a Fresh Take on the Salty Dog Cocktail

Kirin's Grapefruit Dog is a new drink that takes inspiration from England's classic salty dog cocktail—a drink that is traditionally made with vodka or gin and grapefruit juice. The all-new beverage combines Kirin's original grapefruit chūhai (a canned alcoholic drink) with salt to offer fans a refreshing new take on a familiar flavor. While grapefruit is a type of citrus that is sweet, tart and distinctive from other fruits, the addition of salt only serves to underline its unique flavor qualities.

As part of its internationally inspired line of drinks, Kirin has also created a range of beverage flavors informed by places around the world such as Havana, Barcelona and Texas. Naturally, the packaging for Kirin's Grapefruit Dog boasts images of Big Ben, double-decker red buses and other famous landmarks.
