Marriott's Yurts Can Only Be Experienced at Coachella Through Loyalty Points
Laura McQuarrie — April 17, 2018 — Marketing
For Coachella this year, Marriott created a series of eight high-end safari-inspired festival yurts for festival attendees and Marriott Rewards members.
The luxurious yurts are equipped with everything from WiFi and private bathrooms to full minifridges, and give guests peace of mind with 24-hour security. The yurts were modeled after the W Hotels & Resorts locations in Dubai, Barcelona, Bali and Hollywood, and the only way for a festival-goer to book their stay was to bid for a room using their accumulated loyalty points. In the end, some of the Marriott yurts at Coachella went for as much as 822,500 points.
Of the real-world W Hotels & Resorts Marriott chose to model its yurts after, the Dubai, Barcelona, Bali and Hollywood locations appeal particularly to artists, as each has sound suites for musicians on the road.
