Set to launch next year, the Domestos Toilet Academies is an initiative by Unilever and the World Toilet Organization that will provide sanitation solutions and training to countries that have issues with access to clean toilets.
The project will start in Vietnam, where, according to Popsop, only 50 percent of the population has "a kind of" sanitation facility. What's more, 82 percent of the people have access only to facilities that don't meet hygiene standards. To combat this, the Domestos Toilet Academies project will help local people start businesses to acquire, sell and maintain toilets, as well as provide education to communities on the importance of sanitation.
Unilever's announcement of the global roll-out of the Domestos Toilet Academies project is in celebration of World Toilet Day, which is on Nov. 19.
