Dick Clark Architecture designed the 'City View Residence,' a contemporary home located in Austin, Texas.
Responding to the clients' wish for simplicity and value, the architects created the home by using understated materials, including long stretches of glass. For instance, the home's entertainment area is contained within the glass box living room. A set of sliding doors leads from the living room to the dining room and pool deck. The design allows for the interior space to remain open and connected. Another example is the floating bookcase, which divides the hall and bedroom wing, without interrupting the fluidity of the plan.
In order to maintain a low environmental impact, the architects installed bio foam insulation, solar panels and rain water collection and irrigation systems, among other features.
