The Delaware-based brewery Dogfish Head recently began shipping a drink called 'Beer for Breakfast,' which takes a popular morning meal and transforms it into a refreshing craft beer. While the drink has made sporadic appearances at the brewery in the past, now it is available for consumers across the nation to sample.
Beer for Breakfast is an unusual craft beer that tastes exactly like it sounds. The beer is is a stout that is infused with a traditional breakfast meat called scrapple, which is made of cornmeal, cooked pork scraps and spices. The meat is also accompanied by other standard breakfast fare such as cold-brew coffee, applewood-smoked barley and the obligatory maple syrup.
While the beer doesn't necessarily need to be enjoyed over breakfast, brewery founder Sam Calagione suggests that it makes the perfect pairing with an early-morning Bloody Mary.
