Top 100 Tech Trends in September

From Digital Space Billboards to Smart Sanitizing Doormats:

The September 2021 tech trends consist of a wide range of one-of-a-kind innovations, many of which appear to be turning the ideas and concepts typical to works of science fiction into new, tangible realities. Blockchain-based artwork, solar-powered robots, digital droid pets, and kid-tracking smart socks are just a few of the far-out, futuristic items included in this collection.

One standout theme, however, was the increasing prevalence of mixed media applications utilizing augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI), and virtual reality (VR) technologies. For example, fitness technology company FORM announced new AR-powered swim goggles, while AeroFarms partnered with Nokia Bell Labs to develop AI drones for better farming.

Another notable, overarching trend within this collection was innovations in the space of non-fungible tokens (NFT) -- a new form of digital collectibles powered by blockchain technology -- that has caught the world by storm this past summer. Luxury brand Louis Vuitton launched its own NFT art video game, Marvel tokenized Spiderman, and soccer superstar Lionel Messi announced his own collection of NFTs on Ethernity.
