Snapchat Announces the Upcoming Arrival of its New 'Specs' Glasses

Snap Inc. has announced its upcoming Specs smart glasses, launching in 2026, which combine augmented reality with AI in a lightweight, see-through design. Acting as both eyewear and a portable AI assistant, Specs can recognize your surroundings and overlay interactive digital content in real time. Users can play games, stream videos, browse the web, or translate signs and menus—all hands-free.

Early apps include Super Travel for translation, Cookmate for recipe suggestions, Drum Kit for music guidance, and Pool Assist for gameplay improvement. Snap is also expanding its developer platform, offering tools to build AR apps using AI from OpenAI and Google Gemini, multilingual voice recognition, 3D object creation, and AR-guided tours. With Specs, Snap aims to reshape everyday experiences by paving the way for more immersive, context-aware interaction wherever users go.
