Lifelong Reskilling Cultures

McKinsey And General Catalyst Highlight Continuous AI-Era Upskilling

During CES 2026, McKinsey & Company’s global managing partner Bob Sternfels and General Catalyst CEO Hemant Taneja outlined continuous ai-era upskilling. Speaking on the All-In podcast with Jason Calacanis, the leaders framed 'learn once, work forever' as an outdated model, arguing that continuous reskilling is now essential.

Taneja pointed to the breakneck rise of AI firms like Anthropic and OpenAI as evidence that value is concentrating around companies that can rapidly deploy and scale intelligent systems while Sternfels shared that McKinsey plans to match each employee with a personalized AI agent by the end of 2026, using automation to refocus human talent on client-facing and high-judgment tasks.

For consumers and workers, this trend underscores the growing premium on adaptability, curiosity, and creative decision-making that machines cannot easily replicate. Employers experimenting with AI copilots and workflow agents will increasingly favor talent that is comfortable learning new tools and evolving alongside them.
