From ugly food catering from a social enterprise called Culinary Misfits that uses food that supermarkets and food stores won't sell because of small aesthetic bumps in the road to fanatical meal communities that focus on sharing a collective meal, these conscious culinary companies consider the intersections between food and social justice.
Some are more decidedly low-key while others, such as the Hoxton Apprentice, have attempted to crack the fine dining sphere while also training their employees (who are considered "unemployable") to work in the fast-pased restaurance industry. While this Social Business top list is by no means exhaustive of all the innovative cooking companies that are out there, these conscious culinary companies give a wide taste of what's going on the social entrepreneurship field.
