Umami Bioworks has partnered with Friends & Family Pet Food Company to introduce cultivated seafood pet food, initially launching in Singapore, the UK, and the EU. The move follows the registration of two cultivated seafood ingredients by Umami Bioworks for use in EU pet food, with broader launches planned for 2026.
Friends & Family, a California-based startup, recently became the first company in Asia approved to sell cultivated pet food by Singapore’s Animal & Veterinary Services. Its first products, made with cells from Kampung chickens, will debut later this year with eight SKUs, all manufactured locally in Singapore.
The duo's previous collaboration resulted in cultivated fish cat treats, which were introduced to the market in July 2024.
