Some consider it to be arrogant to seek drama in architecture, but the result of a design like Vertical Strip Hanging Tower is well worth the attention it attracts. This avant-garde entertainment complex stimulates the visitor before he even ventures inside.
It's exceedingly difficult to label this particular project because it hardly satisfies a familiar style of structure. On the one hand, Stephan Sobl incorporates an enormous overpass to connect the Hoover Dam and the Bypass Bridge, but the bulk of the building is contained within one sculptural and remarkably industrial-looking suspended skeleton.
A hefty concrete structure spans the top of the edifice and beneath it escapes a spiraling carbon fiber framework into the canyon below, protected by a helix of coiling metal supports. The Vertical Strip casino and theatre is futuristic inverse of the conventional skyscraper.
