The Hummus & Pita Co. Created a Meatless Version of Shawarma

The Hummus & Pita Co. will soon be introducing vegan shawarma to its New York, New Jersey and Connecticut restaurants, offering a completely meatless version of a popular Mediterranean dish. The new menu item from The Hummus & Pita Co. is authentically made with exclusively imported Middle Eastern spices and a recipe that's gluten-free, protein-rich, non-GMO and free from trans fats.

The vegan shawarma will be available from the Mediterranean fast casual concept in a variety of different forms, including pitas, laffas, in bowls or on beds of fresh greens. The vegan shawarma was perfected over the course of a year and pairs well with other plant-based offerings from the chain.

While the product will appeal to vegans and vegetarians, The Hummus & Pita Co. also notes that "Our test for any vegan product is that it must be so delicious that non-vegans also crave it."
