The Birmingham railroad bridge located in Alabama received a technicolor makeover that transformed the train tunnel from a dark and omniscient space into a sea of rainbow color. The transformation is known as the LightRails installation that uses a series of chromatic lights to turn the tunnel into a rainbow of light that pedestrians could walk through.
The LightRails installation was created by artist Bill FizGibbons as a neat way to bring light to an otherwise dark and unapproachable space. FizGibbons attached several ambient LED lights along the Birmingham train tunnel that were hooked up to a computer so that FizGibbons could create rainbow light patterns. A once unfriendly space has now been completely revamped for pedestrians to enjoy.
