Vibrant City Installations

Craig & Karl Take Over Brisbane Festival with City Pop Art Spectacles

Craig & Karl take over Brisbane Festival with citywide pop art spectacles that animate bridges, laneways, and public spaces with large-scale inflatables, projections, and murals. Their takeover includes Walk This Way, where colourful arches span bridges to create immersive tunnels of light and pattern. Another highlight, Public Art Trail, scatters their bold graphics across sculptures and surfaces to transform ordinary streets into visual landmarks. The project also resonates personally, as the duo first met while studying in Brisbane before building their global practice.

The installations run throughout September and invite visitors to explore the festival footprint by foot. Guided tours connect the trail, while evening projections and light boxes transform the city after dark. With colour, scale, and humour, Craig & Karl’s approach redefines urban space as an open-air gallery. Rather than presenting art in traditional venues, their work integrates directly into daily life, creating moments of wonder in the everyday.
