This incredible tower architecture designed by Sou Fujimoto is part of a master plan that will create a beautiful mirage-like structure in the sky. The outlook tower consists of a series of modular arches that are stacked upon one another repetitively, which creates a beautiful pattern and airy structure.
The outlook tower and water plaza are meant for an area of coastal resorts in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. For this tower, the Tokyo-based architects were inspired by the traditional Islamic architecture, using forms that mimic Bedouin tents.
The design of the tower is as gorgeous as it is sustainable. Although it doesn't seem to have much of a form, the many modular arches work as natural airstream barriers which help to direct cool air into the spaces inside. The placement of the tower maximizes the amount of natural light that is let into the building. As well, the design includes solar panels on the roof, which helps to distribute natural heat and energy through the use of a geothermal heating system.
