To bring awareness to the fact that many chocolate products are still produced to this day with child labor, Tony’s Chocolonely is making itself known as a producer of only "100% slave-free chocolate."
To represent the inequality that goes on in the cocoa industry, the bars produced by Tony’s Chocolonely are segmented irregularly, whereas most chocolate bars are separated into even squares that can be neatly broken apart.
As well as producing a range of flavorful, ethical chocolate products, Tony’s Chocolonely aims to inspire other brands to commit to making only slave-free chocolate and make it the norm in the future. Tony’s Chocolonely even crafted a "recipe for slave-free chocolate," which defines five sourcing principles that involve paying fair prices and forming lasting partnerships with farmers for the benefit of all parties.
