The Sigbrit and Mats Swedish Island Home is a 1920s abode in the town of Roslagen. Bought 30 years ago by the couple, the home's rustic charm has been preserved with incredible beauty despite its recent renovation. Until the recent remodel, they had to draw electricity into the cabin and walk down to the basement to get something out of the fridge.
The battle between simplicity and convenience finally came to a halt, but according to TrendLand, "the couple was keen on maintaining as much of the original charm and complimenting it with imported rustic wood cabinets from India and mixed and matched details."
Implications - In an increasingly modernized world, there is a large body of consumers fighting the move towards technology-infused, industrialized homes. The strong appeal in a rustic home is the way it freezes time and captures the inherent beauty in simplicity that is often missing in today's fast-paced society.
