Swedish design studio Johan Sundberg Arkitectur has completed the design of the Sommarhus E. It is a captivating holiday home resting on the island of Gotland. The defining components highlight its natural palette of materials that are purposefully done to bring a sense of groundedness to the site and landscape surrounding the home.
Founder of the studio Johan Sundberg shares with Dezeen, "The core concept is to create a home for this family with their almost-adult children, and friends to come and visit on the island of Gotland, and for that visit to be an authentic experience to the nature of the place. This is a fundamental need, but we thought it especially important to this family, which genuinely wants to feel grounded on the island and has no patience for empty architectural gestures."
