Log Cabin-Inspired Minimal Homes

Gartnerfuglen Arkitkter Designs the Årestua Home in Telemark

Norwegian design studio Gartnerfuglen Arkitekter finished the home design dubbed the Årestua. It is located in the remote location of Telemark and was made with inspiration from traditional log cabins to highlight a sense of 'natural minimalism.' Årestua rests on top of a small sloped forest and the name is inspired by the Norwegian word translated to log cabin which would be organized around an open fire.

Co-founder of the studio Astrid Rohde Wang tells Dezeen that The way the volumes of the cabin are arranged provides different sheltered spaces on all sides, each with its own qualities. We wanted the central space to have a sort of grandeur with the high ceiling height of about four metres and a roof light. It is an open, sacred room where the extended
family can meet and interact for generations to come."
