Minimalist Stealthy Luxe Retreats

The Tiny Auro Cabin Offers Compact Luxury in Chile’s Wilderness

The Tiny Auro cabin offers compact luxury in Chile’s wilderness with precision design by TRAWA Arquitectos. Perched between Lake Llanquihue and the Calbuco volcano in Puerto Varas, the 18 m² retreat spans a 3 × 6 m footprint with a soaring vaulted roof. Its black-clad exterior lets it recede into the forest, while large windows flood the interior with natural light, blurring boundaries between indoors and out. A thoughtfully laid-out ground floor accommodates a kitchen, bathroom, living, and dining area, while the loft bedroom uses vertical volume efficiently.

Set lightly within the Lakes Region ecosystem, the cabin leverages passive orientation, north-facing forest protection, and southern exposure for views and solar gain. Interior finishes of warm timber contrast with the dark exterior, framing nature like changing artwork through seasonally aware glazing. Tiny Auro cabin demonstrates how luxury can be minimal. Its efficiency and aesthetic depth proving that thoughtful design, not square footage, shapes memorable escapes.
