The Bora Boréal Floating Cabins Redefine Wilderness Retreats in Quebec

The Bora Boréal floating cabins in Quebec offer a new kind of off-grid holiday, with structures built on reinforced PVC floats anchored to the shoreline to create the illusion of floating. Designed by Nicolas Robitaille and Pierre‑Luc Routhier, each 35-by-12-foot cabin gently responds to water movement thanks to foam-filled bases. Inside, Scandinavian-inspired interiors use pale wood, expansive windows, and retractable glass walls that open to the lake. A sleeping loft with a mesh floor allows natural light to filter throughout the space, while solar panels, composting toilets, propane kitchens, and wood stoves enable year-round stays—even during frozen winter months.

Minimalism meets comfort in every detail. Guests can choose from the smaller “MiniBora” cabins that sleep four or the larger “BoraVilla” models for up to six. Select units even offer rooftop terraces for stargazing near the Mont‑Mégantic Dark Sky Reserve. With sustainable systems and cozy finishes, the cabins invite a slower, nature-rooted rhythm that redefines modern wilderness travel.
