Dutch architectural firm MVRDV won yet another competition with the design of a fluid and wave-like scenic viewpoint. Blurring the line between sculpture and an interactive piece of architecture, the majestic structure is a public landmark that will create a sense of unity between land, sea and the community.
Respectable and design-forward, the shape of the scenic viewpoint is continuous and suffers no invasive interruptions. According to MVRDV co-founder Jacob van Rijs, this is intended to "represent the dynamics of the sea in its infinite movement."
The sculptural scenic viewpoint offers sweeping views of the Wadden Sea and once construction processes are complete, it will definitely establish itself as a recognizable and symbolic feature within the communal space.
