The Rega Drone Uses Sensors to Search for Missing Persons
Michael Hemsworth — April 16, 2019 — Tech
The Rega drone is an autonomous piece of technology that is engineered to aid with search and rescue operations to quickly locate missing persons without the need for operators. Featuring a bevy of onboard sensors, the drone is outfitted with a daylight camera, infrared camera and a phone-tracking functionality that all work together to locate missing persons as quickly as possible. Custom-made algorithms work to process all of the data as it comes through, while the all-weather design of the unit means it can search when human crews might have to stop.
Rega CEO Ernst Kohler spoke on the new Rega drone explaining, "Ever since it was founded, Rega has continually used cutting-edge technology to further improve air rescue and to come to the aid of even more people in distress. I am confident that the Rega drone will expand our scope of operations even further."
